Shrub up to 2 meters high with a bushy appearance. The leaves are double, segmented into two parts, evergreen, and emit a strong citronella odor. Fragrant flowers, small dark green fruit with a bumpy, furrowed surface, like a small brain.
It adapts well to the Mediterranean climate, but its fruits turn yellow as early as November in Corsica, without losing their aromatic properties. Under Corsican growing conditions, the fruits fall in winter.
