Origins

Millions of years ago, the forests around the Mediterranean were filled with Laurel. A lover of cool, humid soils, it gave way to other species when the Mediterranean climate dried up. However, it remains one of the most typical shrubs of the Mediterranean basin.
When distilling the Bay Laurel from our garden, we keep the water from the first half hour of distillation because that is where the active plant ingredients are most concentrated.


Bay Laurel hydrosol has a wide variety of properties. In cosmetics, it is particularly suitable for oily skin prone to blemishes. It activates circulation and is an excellent scalp tonic.


In cooking, as you know, Bay Laurel or Bay Leaf is a formidable aromatic. A spoon of its floral water will advantageously replace its leaves in your dishes and sauces.

Properties: Purifying, toning, vitalizing, reassuring, antiseptic, circulatory, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic.


Areas of action: Digestion problems (gas and constipation), oral hygiene (canker sores, mouth sores), cooking (aroma), hair loss, scalp and skin care, self-confidence.

Precautions for use

Hydrolats are gentler substances than essential oils. They have no intrinsic contraindications.

However, this does not exclude the possibility of you reacting to the active ingredients they contain (if in doubt, perform an elbow crease test).

Storage: Please note, floral waters are fresh products. Their shelf life is therefore shorter than that of essential oils (approx. 1 year). To maximize it, be sure to store your hydrolats in a cool place, away from air, heat, and light.
