Origins

The Inula is a paradoxical flower. Small and delicate, it grows on wastelands, abandoned paths, and seemingly exhausted soils. One might almost mistake it for a weed… But that would be to misunderstand this little Corsican flower.

It is harvested at its peak of maturity, that is, during its flowering period in late September. If it is overripe, it dries out and the essential oil is lost. The harvesting window is quite short, about 2-3 weeks. The plant is an annual and its location changes, which complicates harvesting: new sites must be found each year. Its yield is low and varies considerably depending on the weather and location. It is heavily impacted by rain, as it washes away the tiny hairs where the essential oil is concentrated. This makes it all the more precious! After all this effort, the result is a magnificent emerald-green essential oil whose potency is well worth the work involved.

Precautions for use

Not recommended for pregnant women in the first trimester. Caution for those with allergies – perform a patch test on the inside of your elbow beforehand. Always use essential oils diluted in a carrier oil. See our blog for dosage instructions. This is a VERY potent oil; use sparingly – ideally under the supervision of a qualified therapist.

If you are a beginner in aromatherapy, opt for its hydrosol - it is gentler.

ConservationStore preferably away from air, heat, and light. This oil may become viscous. Dilute with a vegetable oil if necessary. If it does not flow normally, the dropper can be removed to extract the drops with a toothpick.
